BIG NEWS!!

Je suis finis!  For those who don't parle en Francais, I am finished!!  'Bout time eh?  For more information, check my blog.  Right now, the cover is the issue.  I am not content w/my colouring skills so it is being redone.  Also, I plan to order a few review copies to hunt down any mistakes and correct them.  I am praying that the final comes out w/only a few errors.  I am no editor and I'm not perfect so I won't fool myself into thinking it will be error free.  I will try but that is all I can do.

NEW!!!!!!!!!!

Allo there!  Big news!  Here is the final version of the cover (sans the title).  Chris worked so hard on it and you can tell!  He is a master!

Now, I just need to put a title on the cover and upload to Lulu then order a review copy to catch all (hopefully) the mistakes I've made so I can have the book ready by the end of November!  I've people already ordering copies!  I'm truly excited and don't want to let anyone down with mistakes or delays so I'll be burning the midnight oil to have it ready!

Fragments of the Key

Book I of VII

Eala's Misfit (working title)

So far (I'm still editing) it's a 300+ page novel.  The genre as you can probably guess from looking at the cover is fantasy.  The age range is varied from young to old depending on the reader's palate.  This is my favorite baby (if I were to choose one).  I have been at it for a while and the characters have grown immensely.  Each has their own unique quirk.  The epilogue for the series is even finished.  I have several chapters for each of the books written so far.  Book 2 is almost complete (pre-editing).  I do so hate editing 300+ pages!

I'll give you another sneak peak....

Cover art copyrighted by Chris Goguen.  Sorry but no right clicky!

Ok, on this project, I'm the color artist so give me a bit and you'll have the colored version.

Here's a look at the first concept of the cover (I did NOT color--that was purely Chris' talent).  It's really good so you can imagine the hard time I had choosing!  Again, it's copyrighted by Chris Goguen.

Colored version of new cover

Here's a look at the colored version of Chris' new cover for 'Fragments'.  Now remember, I did the ink/color so don't blame him if you think the color is off/ bad.  I was excited to finally get to do it!  I'm not content w/it though so there still may be more changes.  I've saved it in both JPEG (so I could uploade it here) and RIFF (so I can still work w/the layers).  It took 30 minutes to ink.  Man, my hand was shaky!  I didn't have a .03 so I had to use a .05--not the right tip for such fine detail work, let me tell ya.  It took about an hour to 2 hours to color (eh, I have carpal tunnel so holding my wacom pen tends to not only numb but freeze up my fingers).

I had to change the canvas a bit (it was originally a landscape).  I mostly did a 'fill' with colors but there are some instances where 'fill' does not fill the entire section so you have to go: enlarge the pic, fill the wee little block, and then move to the next (which could be up to 20).  I sometimes forego that and just airbrush but that tends to color over the 'sketch' marks that I want left in.  I didn't do any shading (light or shadow) so I'm also unsure if that'll change yet.  I'm not a master at the layers so I'm sure I'm overlooking something that would allow me to keep those marks.  I have learned a few tricks today w/switching around the layers so who knows, I might learn that trick eventually.

I'm thinking to add some detail to the main cavern walls and more to Siren's tail.  I do like the 3-D look that the cavern has to it...kinda makes you feel like you could go into the pic.
